Shock Exit: Cowboys Icon Zack Martin to Retire at 34 After Legendary Career

Cowboys star offensive lineman Zack Martin has informed the team he is retiring, NFL Network reported Thursday evening.

Martin, a nine-time Pro Bowler, spent his entire 11-year career with Dallas after being drafted in the first round of the 2014 Draft.

The 34-year-old missed seven games last season after injuring his ankle and being forced to undergo season-ending surgery.

Neither Martin nor the Cowboys have yet to address the news publicly.

Incredibly, the guard had only seven holding penalties called on him in his entire career – which is less than the amount of Pro Bowl nods he received.

Martin’s Dallas teammate, CeeDee Lamb reacted to the news on his Instagram story, calling the offensive lineman ‘the freaking GOAT.’

‘I’m 4eva grateful to have played with you,’ he added.

Martin played in nine playoff contests for the Cowboys, but never got past the divisional round.

He signed a two-year, $36.85 million deal in 2023 and was due to make $1.25 million this upcoming year after converting $16.25 million of his 2024 salary into a signing bonus, per Spotrac.

The Notre Dame alum was also a seven-time First Team All-Pro, most recently in 2023.

Dallas could now look to replace the guard in the draft, with the Cowboys owning the No. 12, 44 and 76 picks, among others.
