JASON Kelce had to be big and strong enough to move around NFL defenders for over a decade as an All-Pro center, but now retired, he’s looking to shed the weight.

The 36-year-old recently retired Philadelphia Eagles legend opened up on Wednesday about his goal to “slim down” 35 pounds following his exit from the NFL.

He appeared on the latest edition of the “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Kansas City Chiefs star, Travis Kelce, and expressed that he wants to get into better shape in retirement.

The topic arose as the two answered fans’ questions during a Q&A segment, and one asked if Jason was planning to follow Alan Faneca’s example.

Faneca was a former NFL lineman who started running marathons and slimmed down a lot.

Kelce quickly dismissed that and said he had tried a 5k marathon, but it wasn’t for him due to the injuries he sustained in his NFL playing career.

“Yeah, I’m not doing that. I don’t know how Allan’s doing it,” Jason said.

“I’m not running on the pavement. I tried that already with the 5k. Not going to make a living doing that. My knees are already messed up enough.”

However, he detailed that it was time for a change since he would no longer be playing center in the NFL and facing 300-pound linemen.

“I’m gonna slim down,” Kelce said.

“My goal is 250 [pounds]. This last week, I got down to 285 cause I knew I was doing this. And then I had cake for three days in a row.”

Kelce continued explaining that he is not big on extreme diets but recently started “tracking calories.”

“I don’t personally subscribe to doing extreme diets like going all the way vegan or all the way carnivore or keto,” Kelce shared.

“My man Joe Thomas lost a bunch of weight. He’s all keto. And I’m like, ‘Dude more power to you,’ but f**k no, I’m not doing that.”

“He looks fantastic, but it’s not worth, to me, doing that.”

“I downloaded MyFitnessPal and just started tracking calories.”

“I feel like as long as I maintain my protein intake, so I keep my muscle and just kind of limit the calories, you’ll start to lose weight, that’s the plan.”

Kelce played 13 seasons in the NFL, spending his whole career with the Eagles.

He was voted to the NFL’s All-Pro team six times, the Pro Bowl seven and won one Super Bowl.
